Internal Gear Pumps

Working Principle:

Present the choice of preference at places up to 14 bars atmospheric pressure and for such viscous fluids as molasses, chocolate, asphalt, thick lubricants and even such materials that need to be slightly crushed, due to their large pitches and high tolerance between gears.

Internal gear pumps are consisting of two moveable parts and they have positive displacements. While the rotor gear coupled to pump shaft is turning, rotor gear will transmit the motion to the idler pin in order to rotate it. During this period idler pin and rotor separates each other by crescent and vacuum will occur.

Pump sucks the constant amount of liquid by the virtue of vacuum. Therefore, this sucked fluid flows from gear teeth spaces (clearances) to the discharge outlet.

While the gears meshing in the discharge outlet, pressure occurs and this motion allows the fluid transfer to the outside.

Meanwhile idler pin and rotor gear mesh each other in the discharge outlet and this activity reveal the pressure for forcing fluid to the outside. Pump transfers the liquid by every revolution of the shaft in accordance with volume capacity. Henceforth capacity of pump is directly proportional to its magnitude and RPM.


1- Rotor operates in a circular motion by motor energy in the direction of arrow. In the meantime internal idler pin (helical) separates from rotor gear by rotating. The liquid fills in empty space by separation of gears.


2- Crescent (placed at the pump cover) separates from gears and fluid will be carried by internal gear clearances.


3- While rotor gear and idler pin meshing each other, the fluid will be forced to the discharge channel.


4- Fluid moves through the pump system and process of transfer is realized.

Internal gear pumps assembly in two main groups such as With Bracket or Non Bracket. (Table 9) All pumps are equipped with pumps casings that can be turned to eight positions. Pump casings are designed so they can be rotated on the bracket to any 45° or 90°. All pumps are available with tapped and flanged ports, with relief valve on head with jacketed head on jacketed casing.

Beside these, flow of the pump can be increased and decreased with specified ratio by the virtue of adjusting drum, which is available at the bracket. Letter of (K) explains us; Pump has got a bracket and K letter is used in internal eccentric gear pumps. (Ex:2” CA : Non bracket pump, 2” CAK : With Bracket Pump)

ADJUSTING OF FLOW BY ADJUSTING DRUM:

  1. Loose the bolt lock (A)
  2. Adjusting fixing pin (B) can be rotate to left or right with an angle of 90 degree by pushing it (spring available at the back)
  3. Ball carrier (C) with the suitable and specific key for the frontal holes, required flow, for increasing rotate at the clockwise and (L space is decreased between cover and rotor) for decreasing turn at the rotor at the reverse side of clock wise (space will be decreased between rotor and cover).
  4. After finishing the process of flow adjusting; Twist adjusting fixing pin to (B) place and locking bolt (A) must be tighten closely.

Important Note: During this process you must not touch to the bolt lock (D) (Locker screw).
